The site was used as a practical focus for numeracy work. Including:
Data handling using quadrants
    create graphs
    estimation of objects in quadrant
    carroll diagrams of results
    tally charts
    pie charts
    drawing conclusions from investigation

Use of quadrats to develop work on fractions and percentages
Use of quadrats to develop work on area and perimeter
Measure the distance to BH from school—do this practically with click wheels and using ICT with CR viewer
Develop understanding of direction
Develop understanding of coordinates
Develop understanding of map scales and conversion of metric and non-metric measures
Use woodland as a context for generating problems for the children to solve using all four rules

Use tree dating :-
    to find averages of measurements,
    to practise doubling and halving, to measure practically,
    to produce graphs
